Sam Rasoul practices what he preaches Charles & Ethlyne Davidson in Lynchburg (News
Virginian)
Recently we have sat in three different
living rooms, including our own, listening to Sam Rasoul of
Roanoke discuss his desire to represent us in the 6th district of the U.S. House of Representatives. There are few
politicians we have met anywhere at any time who are as
knowledgeable, articulate, personable, persuasive, passionate,
committed, and capable of taking on the challenges facing our
region and nation as Sam Rasoul.
Brilliant, yes. Personally responsive and
utterly respectful of those to whom he speaks, yes. Independent
of thought and not beholden to any special interests, yes. Takes
no money from PACs or from the Democratic Party but only from
people who believe in him, yes. Able to sift through the
complexities of economic, social, and political realities
affecting us all, proposing new solutions for a new day, yes.
A small businessman who loves family,
neighborhood, and country and is willing to sacrifice for the
future of them all, this is Sam. A fiscal conservative who will
balance budgets, slash special interests, remove earmarks and
wasteful pork barrel spending, limit terms of office, and seek
affordable single payer health care for all citizens while
allowing us to keep our physicians, this is Sam. A progressive
voice committed to new technologies for renewable energy and the
creation of green jobs within our own congressional district
without job depletion from outsourcing, yes, this is Sam!
Sam believes in two essential articles of
faith by which to live. Love God as you love yourself, and love
your neighbor as you love yourself. And he practices what he
preaches.
If you have not yet invited Sam into your
living room to listen and to speak with you and your neighbors,
then do so this coming month. He will win your heart as well as
your vote.
Bless you, Sam! You are the best of the best!
Some day we expect to hear that you are running for President of
the United States!
Sam Rasoul: Doing it the right way Myron in Rockingham (The Republitarian Blog)
I dont usually
use this blog to pat people on the back, but Im going to make
an exception.
Over the last
several months I have talked to several democrats who have
questioned whether Sam was electable and had a good enough
command of the issues. After watching the guy in person several
times and watching the way hes conducted himself on the blogs,
I have to say that my opinion on Sam has totally changed.
It is rare to
find a 26 year old who knows as much as Sam does and who is able
to articulate as well as he does. Sam and I spoke briefly at the
Blue Nile yesterday and he approached me and began to ask about
my family and even knew the age of our youngest child. It almost
seemed like we were buddies.
It is rare to
find a politician who doesnt appear to have any hint of
arrogance and seems genuinely interested in people. Now, I
realize I get the special treatment because of this blog, but I
watched him from a distance to see if it was real and he treated
me just like everyone else. The guy has impeccable people
skills.
Sam might not
win this election, but hes won my respect.
If the democrats
dont want him, Ill take him on my team.
Rasouls values closer to home Brian
Lang of Roanoke (The Roanoke Times)
Dear editor,
I believe that as more voters become familiar
with Republican Bob Goodlattes appalling record, including
broken promises on term limits, theyll look for someone else to
vote for.
For example, Goodlatte opposed the new G I
Bill which was passed with broad, bipartisan support. Our
veterans deserve much more than what elitist, out-of-touch
extremists such as Goodlatte think they deserve.
Sam Rasoul, the Democratic nominee to oppose
Goodlatte, supports the G I Bill. Sams values are much more
typical of voters in Goodlattes district. Sam Rasoul is a
moderate, pro-small-business Democrat.
Goodlattes positions on nearly all issues
are identical to those of George W. Bush. Sams are much more
comparable to those of popular former Governor Mark Warner.
Lets vote against the corruption and failed policies of
Goodlatte and the Bush administration. Lets vote for progress
by voting for Sam Rasoul.
Rasoul correct on energy, health Meg Carsky-Wilson in Lynchburg (Lynchburg News &
Advance) Im a fiscally conservative Republican.
I just returned from a neighborhood meet and
greet with Sam Rasoul for Congress. Impressive! Born in Ohio,
he grew up in Roanoke, and is running against the incumbent. As
a successful small business owner, he believes in solutions that
work.
We face complex challenges the energy
crisis, Iraq war, struggling economy. There are no simple
solutions. He was a breath of fresh air. He understood the
issues and offered well-considered and researched solutions. He
wants to end dependence on foreign oil. In the 1973 oil crisis,
we got 25 percent of our oil from overseas. Now its 70 percent.
He believes in redirecting subsidies from big oil corporations
to find real energy solutions.
He doesnt support socialized medicine, but
believes no one should be forced to decide between keeping his
home and getting a critical operation for his 6-year-old. As a
mother of four, I agree! He supports HR 676, which is like
improved Medicaid for all. Its a smart bill, with a 15-year
implementation period, supported by many in health care.
Sam Rasoul deeply understands the issues I
care about. I trust him to do the right thing thats why Im
now planning a meet and greet for him at my house. Check his
Web site to learn more, and meet him if you can. Youll be glad
you did.
Sam Has Support from Across the
District and Across the Isle Craig in Churchville (Staunton
News Leader)
Sam Rasoul has said he will limit his terms
also. I am hoping he will keep that promise. My vote will be Sam
Rasoul, Gilmore, and McCain.
